Josh Daniels built Go Amplify from nothing: no agency background, no university, no co-founder. He taught himself to build websites, started approaching local businesses, and grew it into a search marketing agency for Shopify ecommerce brands, SEO and digital PR supplemented with PPC to drive quality traffic.

The situation
By the time we met, the business was growing around 50% year on year. Josh was doing everything himself: clients, meetings, accounts, HR, and the project management on top of all of it.
It's the solo-founder trap, where the person who built the business becomes the reason it can't grow past him. And it was landing during one of the hardest personal stretches of his life, a breakup that pulled the drive and purpose out from under him.
"I was getting to a point of burnout in the business because I always kinda struggled with delegation and taking on too much myself, because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I want everything done my way... wearing twenty different hats at once. I was lacking that clarity, vision, and purpose for a while."
Josh Daniels, Founder & MD, Go AmplifyThe catalyst
The first thing that cut through was a time audit, a full look at how Josh spent his week, mapped against what a founder should be spending his time on. For a perfectionist who'd convinced himself he had to touch everything, seeing it laid out in front of him was the thing that cracked the pattern open.
"It was really personalised to the challenges that I was facing... you helped me create a roadmap to implement and understand truly where I should be spending my time. We did that time audit, which was quite enlightening. So I was able to review where I was spending my time and what I should delegate and what I should be focusing on as the founder of the business, which is revenue producing activities."
Josh DanielsYou can't delegate what you've never mapped. The audit gave Josh the picture: what only he could do as founder, and everything else that was draining his week without moving the business forward.
What we deployed
From the audit, we built Josh a roadmap. A plan built around his specific challenges and where he needed to pull himself out of the business.
- Delegation firstThe core move was delegation, which for a perfectionist is the hardest move there is. Josh had made himself personally responsible for project management while running everything else.
- An owner for operationsWe handed project management to his operations person, who now owns the workload and keeps the team accountable. That took Josh out of the middle of the daily machine.
- SOPs and trainingsThen we built the thing that makes delegation actually hold. A perfectionist can only let go when the standard lives in the system instead of in his head. That's what let the team run to Josh's bar without Josh standing over it.
- A sharper offerWe made a focus call on the business itself. Go Amplify had been spread across a range of services. We stripped it back to one sharp offer, blended search for Shopify ecommerce: SEO and digital PR supplemented with PPC. Fewer services, more clarity, cleaner SOPs, and, as it turned out, bigger clients.
There's one more thing Josh named that founders underrate. He'd worked with coaches before who hand you homework and then disappear, and when you're buried in client work, that homework slides to the bottom of the list. What worked this time was accountability: someone who actually cared whether the work got done, not just whether the invoice cleared.
Results
The results showed up in two places at once, the business and the life, which for a solo founder are never really separate. On the life side, Josh did the thing he'd been putting off for years. He moved to Portugal.
On the business side:
- 2X revenue
- The team manages the day-to-day operations and delivery
- A delegation system installed and running
- The service line stripped back to blended search for Shopify ecommerce, sharper focus and bigger clients
- A clear vision, and a founder who's more fulfilled
The team is more accountable with the ops person owning delivery, the agency runs more organised, and clients are happier as Josh delegates properly. The sharper focus is pulling in bigger clients. He's even started building a second venture, which is the clearest sign a founder has actually stepped out of the day-to-day.
The closing word
The through-line in everything Josh said is a founder who got himself back: his time, his clarity, his life.
"I'm a lot more fulfilled and dedicated to growing the agency because we've got a clear vision now. Our clients are very happy, as I've started to delegate a lot more effectively."
